A NOTE FROM MICHAEL LAZAROFF,
President, Jazz Cruises LLC:
Hello Scullers nation! I’m Michael Lazaroff, President of Jazz Cruises LLC and I am delighted to take this opportunity to tell you about what we do and our exciting new partnership with Scullers Jazz Club.
Jazz Cruises, LLC, the producer of The Jazz Cruise (www.thejazzcruisellc.com), Dave Koz & Friends at Sea (www.davekozcruise.com) and The Smooth Jazz Cruise, hosted by Wayman Tisdale (www.thesmoothjazzcruise.com) is honored and pleased to announce that it has partnered with the world renowned Scullers Jazz Club for a very special program for the inaugural sailing (January 25-February 1, 2009) of the Playboy Jazz Cruise, hosted by Marcus Miller (www.playboyjazzcruise.com).
The combination of Playboy Jazz and Scullers Jazz Club reflects a partnership of two of the greatest names in jazz in the world. The heritage of Playboy Jazz goes back to the very beginning of the magazine with its annual reader’s poll of jazz performers to the ground breaking Playboy After Dark series to the 30 years of the Playboy Jazz Festival. The history of Scullers Jazz Club is equally storied and it stands today as one of the most recognized jazz clubs in the world and a destination sought by every jazz tour and performer. When you add the cruise production expertise of Jazz Cruises, LLC., then you have a trio that can only produce gold records…or in this case…the finest cruise experience in the world.
The Playboy Jazz Cruise will depart from Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday, January 25, 2009 on Holland America’s m/s Westerdam and will sail the Caribbean for one week visiting the exciting ports-of-call of San Juan, Nevis, St, Barths and the private island of Half Moon Cay, before returning to Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday, February 1, 2009 (arriving around 8 am that day…giving everyone ample time to get to their Super Bowl parties).
The cruise is hosted by Marcus Miller and boasts the finest lineup of contemporary jazz performers in the world, including Dianne Reeves, Keb’ Mo’, Poncho Sanchez, James Moody, Roy Hargrove, James Carter, Eldar, Roberta Gambarini, New Birth Brass Band and other performers, together with our very Special Guest Herbie Hancock. There will be nightly performances in the main theater, followed each night by Jazz Cruises’ famous Cruising After Dark programming, which features music, comedy, dancing, jam sessions and other events in multiple venues throughout the ship. It is a part atmosphere highlighted by the finest music in the world!
Afternoons at sea feature more music, autograph sessions, intimate interviews and “Q & A’s” with the artists and so much more entertainment. Join us for the daily cocktail parties hosted by the artists, the pool parties, costume nights and dancing lessons. It will be a week to remember.
All guests who book as part of the Scullers Jazz Club Group are entitled to a special package which includes an exclusive onboard cocktail party with some of the artists, a special gift bag (you all know Dayla and her gift bags!) and special seating for one of the presentations on a selected night. To take advantage of this package, just call the Playboy Jazz Cruise, toll free, at 866.923.PBOY.
